A sister-wife is a polyandrynous term. It means that these two women share one husband. (He actually had like four or five wives. He looked like Watto from Star Wars Episode 1. Oh, and he was 80. Like for serious 80. I asked my 14-year-old host sister the names and ages of all her family members. Loorkinyai, my host mom, is 35.)
My host mom had at least five, maybe six, and there were usually four or five kids belonging to other sister-wives running around... I rather suspect that he may not have been the biological father of all of the kids, particularly since most of them seemed to be under age seven.
Well, you never know. Men produce sperm their whole lives. Now whether or not they can must up enough blood pressure to get the sperm out of their penis is another matter entirely. Usually how active they are in their everyday life is a good indicator. Was he an active bouncy old man or did he just kinda lay there and stare off into space. Also, how many grandchildren did he have?! I wonder if he can even remember all of their names. I find this totally fascinating.
No grandchildren, to my knowledge. My host sister Tikako was 14 and I think she was the oldest, although she may have had an older brother who wasn't around because he would be the age to be a Moran, a warrior. And old Watto was mobile, but barely. He shuffled around extremely slowly and with the aid of a walking stick.
This is a fantastically awesome picture. But Baby number one (Daniel?) Isn't smiling!! But he is adorable none the less. When babies have hair like that I just want to rub their heads and make goo-coo-ing noises.
Yeah, that's Daniel, and he's only three months old, so he's not much of a smiler yet. His seven-year-old sister Stella could sometimes get him to smile, though!
